Any good daughter would do everything to protect her sick mother. It wasn’t too long ago when Facebook netizens found themselves saddened when a concerned netizen shared the plight of a woman and her bed-ridden mother on the aforementioned social media platform.
Facebook user Janna Cortez Garcia took to Facebook, particularly on the Facebook page “Pinoy Scandal” to detail the story of Nanay Estella and her daughter.
Janna first encountered the woman, who was carrying her mother, Nanay Estella, in a jeep. The mother and daughter were off to Social Security System (SSS) to comply to the insurance program’s annual requirement for pensioners to personally accomplish the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP). This application is used to ensure that the pensioner is still alive and authorized to receive the benefits.
“Wala daw silang wheel chair dahil wala daw silang pangbili at wala din daw tumutulong sa kanila. Hindi rin daw nila alam ang sakit ni nanay dahil wala silang pera pang pahospital at wala din daw sila pinaiinum na gamot dahil wala din daw po silang pangbili.”
In the photo, you would notice that her big toe has been amputated due to diabetes (encircled part). As per Janna, ever since they removed the mother’s toe, her body started to deteriorate.
The netizen also called out their municipality’s officials for help.
Meanwhile, this desperate attempt to comply to the social insurance program’s annual requirement led some Filipino netizens to lament over its poor services.
